Dear Indonesia Hoosiers,
Summer has arrived in Indiana, along with sunshine and warm weather. Although it may seem like a quiet season between semesters, IU is buzzing with activity. For instance, Bloomington recently hosted Hoosiers from across the United States and the world for the annual Cream and Crimson Weekend. Here, alumni leaders heard from inspiring speakers, learned about new opportunities, and connected with each other. Energy was in the air as the IU family planned how best to reach past, present, and future Hoosiers. The rich programming and activities led by the Indonesia chapter are a model and example for these, IU’s growing global communities.
“THE RICH PROGRAMMING AND ACTIVITIES LED BY THE INDONESIA CHAPTER ARE A MODEL AND EXAMPLE FOR THESE, IU’S GROWING GLOBAL COMMUNITIES.”
I am happy to report that we are busy welcoming the newest member of our international alumni relations staff at the IU Alumni Association. Roy Hooper joined the IUAA last week, coming to us from the IU Research Center for Chinese Politics and Business (RCCPB). A native Hoosier, Roy received his BA in International Studies from IU in 2012. He focused on Chinese and Arabic during his undergraduate studies, going on to spend a semester at Nanjing University. Prior to working at the RCCPB, he served as a Credentials Analyst at IU’s Office of International Services. Last year, he completed his MBA in Marketing at the Kelley School of Business.
Roy will be working with me and all of you to support and advance the global IU alumni community. His work will include building bridges between international student groups on campus and the alumni chapters in the US and abroad.
As always, we look forward to hosting you whenever you plan to visit us in Indiana. IU’s grand celebration of its 200th anniversary is fast approaching. Mark your calendars to join us June 1 through 6, 2020 when the university will host an unprecedented global alumni celebration and reunion. It is sure to be an unforgettable event! In the meantime, stay in touch by following and posting on the IU Global Alumni Network Facebook page.
GO IU!
