In 1984, he graduated from the Kelley School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He began his career at The Chase Manhattan Bank in Investment Banking. In 1990, he made the decision to leave The Chase Manhattan Bank and join Bank Bira's Board of Directors. Eventually, he rose to the position of CEO and under his leadership, Bank Bira became the top investment bank in Indonesia.
In 1999, he went on to establish a group of finance services companies under Malacca Trust, Pte. Ltd. These companies include Batavia Prosperindo Aset Manajemen, Batavia Prosperindo Finance, Malacca Trust, and BP Trans.
In 2013, he established Megatama Putra Sejahtera, an industrial estate township, and launched a cutting-edge sustainable indoor farming company. The following year, in 2014, he founded the BP Peduli Foundation and spearheaded the construction of Sekolah Misi Bagi Bangsa Batam, a school dedicated to providing education for underprivileged students..
In 2022, he was honored with the prestigious 2022 Distinguished Entrepreneur Award.
